The purpose of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence is to eliminate domestic violence in Rhode Island. Our mission is to support and enhance the work of our member agencies and to provide leadership on the issue of domestic violence. 

 

Safety for Children

RICADV and SOAR will release the long-awaited report on Child Custody and Visitation Study called, Safety for Children: A report of the impact of Rhode Island’s custody system on victims of domestic violence and their children. Safety for Children presents alarming trends of continued domestic abuse throughout Rhode Island’s Child Custody and Visitation system that has left survivors feeling re-victimized, even after they leave the abusive relationship.

Today, young people are beginning to date earlier than ever before and their relationships are not always healthy. Teens who are abused by dating partners are more likely to contemplate suicide, get poor grades and experience domestic violence as adults.
